For KOALA, a trend-setting travel startup, one URL stands apart in terms of revenue-generating conversions and awareness. What page, you ask? That would be KOALA’s timeshare rentals page.
KOALA entered the continual SEO testing program with the goal of amplifying organic traffic and keyword rankings across a list of URL-keyword pairings. Chief among those URLs is the Timeshare Rentals page, which happens to be the most competitive landing page, and accounts for the majority of KOALA’s conversions from Organic Search.
We ran a series of experiments across 35 individual URLs. The overall result of KOALA’s testing program was a 51% increase in total organic traffic to the sample-set of URLs.
What’s more?
KOALA’s timeshare rentals page increased traffic by 76%, leading to net-positive traffic and conversion results.
KOALA’s title before the experiment (the control):
Our hypothesis:
Although KOALA’s title tag does contain the primary keyword, the overall message is vague which is not ideal for search engines, or searchers. By making the title more specific around “best timeshare rentals,” and by adding the current year, we may be able to attract more clicks on KOALA’s most-competitive search term.
Testing the new title (variant):
Total clicks to KOALA’s page during the 3-week span grew from 893 clicks to 1,575 clicks, a 76.37% increase. Growth to the remaining pages increased from 1,984 to 2,997 clicks during the same span. An increase of 51.06%!
The full results of KOALA’s SEO title experiments include a 171% clicks increase to their Interval International page, a 115% clicks increase to their Hyatt Residence Club page, and a 51% overall clicks increase to the test group.
